Особенности формирования нерестового стада восточнобалтийской трески в 1976-1989 гг.

The structure of the spawning stock in the Eastern Baltic cod is controlled by the year-class abundance, stock total size, biological status and fish maturation. The dynamics of the spawning stock age composition is shown for the years of different stock size. In general, the basis of the spawning stock is composed by the 3-to-5 year-old fishes, however, in the years 1981-1986 the dominance of older age groups (4-to-6 year old) was observed. Feeding conditions determine the growth and maturation of cod from different age groups and thereby there significance in the spawning stock. In the years of high stock abundance and poor food availability (1980-1983), a part of adult cod was immature and missed spawning. In the years of high stock size and unfavourable hydrological conditions in the Gotland spawning ground (1980-1982, 1987-1988), cod migrations to the spawning areas in the southern and western Baltic were observed. The population density is an important factor influencing the composition and size of then spawning stock, particularly in the years of unfavourable hydrological regime in the Gotland spawning ground.
