Hydrologic nitrogen losses from tropical soils: patterns and implications.

Tropical forest soils often tend to be rich in nitrogen but poor in phosphorus. We have measured hydrologic nitrogen and phosphorus losses from soils across a soil fertility gradient in the central Amazon basin.
