Influência do alimento na fecundidade, fertilidade e longevidade de Epinotia aporema (WALS.) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae).

Adults of Epinotia apo rema (Wals . ) were kept singly or paired in laboratory at 250 ± 2 oc and fed either water ora 10% honey so lution diluted in water. The total number of eggs laid by honey= - fed females was on average 18 1 . 3 , compared to 12.0 laid by those reared on a water diet . Mean percent fertility was 78.8% for eggs laid in the honey diet and 54 ,6%. for those laid by females kept on water . Similarly , adult longe vity was markedly affect ed by the ad dition of honey to the diet; male l ongevity was not a ffected when reared singly or paired, in both diets, whereas females fed on honey lived significatly more when kepts i ngly. No difference hetween the sexes was fo1md in the longevity of adults maintained on water, either when reared singly or paired. The results show that adults of E . apor ema depend on a source of sugars for reproduction and survival .
