Estoques de carbono e nitrogênio do solo em um sistema integrado de produção com Cratylia argentea no Cerrado brasileiro.
Studies of soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) contents and stocks in integrated production systems are essential, mainly due to the relevance of these systems in the face of climate change mitigation, mainly combined with the use of species that are adapted to different conditions edaphoclimatic and have multiple uses in agriculture. Given the above, this study aimed to evaluate the soil C and N contents under conventional pasture and integrated production system with Cratylia argentea in the Brazilian Cerrado biome. The experiment was composed of 3 land uses: native vegetation; conventional pasture; integrated system with Cratylia argentea + Urochloa brizantha cv. BRS Piatã. To determine soil C and N contents and stocks, soil samples were taken at 0-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-30 cm layers. C and N contents and stocks were similar between the monoculture of pasture and integrated production system. The both management systems showed soil C and N content and stocks lower than the VN only in the 0-5 cm layer. Thus, well-managed pastures and sustainable intensification using Cratylia argentea promote improvements in soil quality, with potential to accumulate C, N and to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
