Longitudinal changes in Campylobacter and the litter microbiome throughout the broiler production cycle

Campylobacteriosis continues to be one of the major causes of bacterial gastroenteritis in the US. Broiler chickens, an important source of Campylobacter to humans, become colonized with the bacterium on the farm, but the role of the bedding material (litter) in the ecology of Campylobacter is still not clear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the relationship between Campylobacter and the longitudinal changes in the litter microbiome throughout the broiler production cycle
