Cattle antibody repertoires before and after vaccination against bovine respiratory disease
Purebred American Angus calves (n = 204) were vaccinated with a modified live vaccine (Bovi-Shield Gold 5; Zoetis Inc., Parsippany N.J.) containing antigens of 4 viruses associated with bovine respiratory disease as described (Kramer et al., 2017). A second booster vaccination was applied three weeks later. Bovine whole blood was collected and stored in Tempus TM blood RNA tubes (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA). Collections occurred at four-time points; three weeks prior to vaccination (Pre), at vaccination (Day 0), three weeks post-vaccination at booster vaccination (3 week), and 3 weeks after booster vaccination (6 week). The RNA was converted to cDNA using primers designed for capturing IgG and sequenced using Illumina MiSeq.
