Rat Cerebellum RNAseq based on dietary fatty acids.

Dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) influence postnatal brain growth and development. However, little is known about the impacts of dietary n-3 PUFA in juvenile animals post weaning, a time of rapid growth. The purpose of the study was to determine what genes within the juvenile cerebellar transcriptome are responsive to dietary n-3 PUFA deprivation. Three week old male Sprague-Dawley rats (n=10/group) were fed diets consisting of either α-linolenic acid (ALA; 18:3n-3) sufficient soybean oil (SO) or ALA-deficient, corn oil (CO) for four weeks. Next-generation sequencing was performed on the cerebellar tissue to identify differentially expressed genes.
