Data from: Quantifying Insect Dispersal Distances from Trapping Detections Data to Predict Delimiting Survey Radii, Florida fruit fly Distances

Trapping survey detections data for Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly; Ceratitis capitata) and Oriental fruit fly (OFF; Bactrocera dorsalis) with latitudes and longitudes and other spatial identifications removed, to protect private properties from being identified. Data are from the USDA-APHIS-Plant Protection and Quarantine program Florida and were used to quantify the dispersal kernel, or total distance travelled, up to 30 days. They cover the period 1956-2018 (nonconsecutively).

"Collected Florida fruit fly distances data v1.xlsx" is the data with clustering for proximity in time and space. This data includes distance metrics calculated for each record, from the cluster centroid. The "Medfly" tab has the Medfly data (1956-2011), while the "OFF" tab has the OFF data (1999-2018)

Resources in this dataset:

Resource Title: Collected survey data on dispersal distances for two fruit flies in Florida.

File Name: Collected Florida fruit fly distances data v1.xlsx

Resource Description: The data are clustered trapping records for specific locations with estimated dispersal distances from the centroid of the cluster.
