These aquatic ecosystems provides an habitat for a high biodiversity of faunal communitites with ecological and economical importance. Furthermore, this area is important also in hidrological features associated to a high diversity of fauna and plants, whereas 23% of national vertebrate biodiversity and 53% of freshwater wetlands are presented.
