Eficacia de los pabellones impregnados con bifentrina sobre la abundancia, paridad e índice de sangre humana de Anopheles albimanus Wiedemann (Diptera: culicidae) en el sur de Chiapas, México

From a series of WHO-type bioassay cones, a lethal concentration bifenthrin impregnated bednets was determined. The biological tests of contact tarsal on the impregnated bednets with 40 mg a.i. of bifenthrin/m2, indicated a mean residual effect of 1.3 months, with a mortality of 98 %, for two impregnations. The bifenthrin-impregnated bednets demonstrated effectivity on the indoor abundance between villages with treated and untreated bednets on the indoor abundance of An. albimanus. A significant decrease of parous rate was found in houses in treated bednets with respect to houses with untreated bednets. We found significant differences between villages with treated or untreated bednet on the human blood index. The results indicated an impact on the populations of An. albimanus, however it required more studies to be adopted as an alternative in the vector control in this region.
