Building empowerment for development the case of the organized working group in La Palma, Chiapas

What is the process of empowerment for development projects? In this case study, we analyze how a fishermen's group controls its own development project in La Palma, Chiapas, Mexico. The group located in the Biosphere Reserve, "La Encrucijada", describes their experience with shrimp production in ponds and the organizational process required to launch the project. They present the assistance received, problem s encountered, a n d successes achieved. The project permitted the fishermen to make their own decisions, achieve a union o f trust that allowed them to work as a group, and the ability to p la n new projects. They endorse their development process for use by community members a n d others who want to improve projects in other communities.
