Coffee cultivar resistant to leaf rust: Oeiras - MG 6851 :
The new cultivar Oeiras-MG 6851 is a result of research carried out by the Coffee Breeding Programme of Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuaria de Minas Gerais and Universidade Federal de Vicosa. It originated from the cross Caturra Vermelho (CIFC 19/1) and Hibrido de Timor (CIFC 832/1). This cultivar has a high production potential, leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix) resistance, and short stature. It is recommended for the main coffee regions of Minas Gerais, and it can be grown at a high tree density.
