Identification of toxic species of Aspergillus associated with stored coffee beans

Forty-five coffee samples, originating from 10 municipal districts of the southern region of Minas Gerais, Brazil were analyzed for mycotoxins. Of the samples analyzed before disinfection, 95.55 percent were contaminated with Aspergillus spp. After disinfection with NaClO 1 percent, 46.66 percent of the samples still had mycotoxin contamination. Details of the Aspergillus species found and their frequency are given.
