Agua residual y complementada como sustituto del medio de cultivo in vitro de embriones de café

This work was carried out in the Provincial Enterprise from Hydraulical Resources and Genetic Laboratory from the Central Research Station of Coffee and Cacao, Santiago, Cuba during February-June 1996. The embryos of Coffea arabica (cv. Catuai Rojo)were in vitro cultured in media containing 1 litre waste water (from Neat Enterprise of Santiago de Cuba) supplied either alone or mixed with coconut milk (10 ml) and ammonium nitrate (50, 55, 100, 110, 165, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg). Main chemical components were analysed 19, 27, 36 and 44 days after culturing. The stem and root lengths were evaluated. There was a significant difference between treatments. The best culture media was that supplemented with waste water combined with either 500 or 1000 mg/litre of ammonium nitrate.
