Study on association of mould in gleanings of Arabica

Mould contamination is an emerging thrust area of research in coffee. The mould-contaminated coffee apart from being poor in quality, become unsafe for human consumption by producing mycotoxin that too Ochratoxin-A, which is a nephrotoxic and suspected carcinogen. Since the gleanings are critical control points in the coffee production chain, a study was undertaken to understand the extent of mould growth/contamination and succession in field and processing stage.
