Variations among the isolates of koleroga noxia on different collateral hosts

Based on the symptoms similar to black rot of coffee, pathogen/isolates from 20 different host species were collected and cultures of Koleroga noxia from these host species were established either by basidiospore fall methos or plating the infected leaf bits on PDA. Comparative measurements of basidia, sterigmata and basidiospores of all the isolates of K. noxia were presented. Besides, colony growth manifested by these isolates on PDA-thiamine at 23¦1°C were also described. Of the 20 isolates of K. noxia inoculated on one-year-old coffee plants only 10 isolates viz., nos 9 to 17 and 20 were infectious and incoulated leaves exhibited the symptoms of black rot. Hence, host plants, of these isolates could be considered as collateral hosts of the black rot pathogen of coffee.
