A review of insect pests attacking coffee roots, stems, branches and leaves in Kenya

The insect pests which attack coffee roots, stems branches and leaves and their control approaches are reviewed. The control measures such as biological, cultural and integrated insect pest management are discussed. The insect pest species reviewed are in the orders Homoptera: Planococcus fungicola (Risso), Icerya pattersoni (Newst), Saissetia coffeae (Walker), Asterolecanium coffeae Newstead; Lepidoptera: Leucoptera ssp. Leucoplema dohertyi Warren, Archips occidentalis (Walls) and Tortrix dinota Meyricki; Parasa vivida (Walker) and Coleoptera: Anthores leuconotus Pascoe, Apate monachus Fabricius, Gonocephalum simplex (Fabricius), Dirpha nigricornis (Olivier) and Systates pollinosus Gerst.
