Comparative efficacy of three fungicides for control of coffee leaf rust in India :

Efficacy of three fungicides viz., mixed formulations of benalaxyl 4 percent + mancozeb 33 percent (galben R subíndice 4 -33), benalaxyl 8 percent + mancozeb 65 percent (galben M subíndice 8 -65), chlorothalonil (clortocaffaro 75 WP) and Bordeaux mixture as standard were compared for the control of coffee leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix) under field conditions. Bordeaux mixture and clortocaffaro were significantly superior over other treatments in controlling the leaf rust incidence. Urediniospores in vitro almost lost their viability for germination in Bordeaux mixture treatment. Clortocaffaro inhibited more than fifty per cent of spore germination, whereas in galben R subíndice 4 -33 and galben M subíndice 8 -65 treatments less than fifty per cent inhibition of urediniospore germination was observed.
