Methanol spraying on coffee and cocoa seedlings

An experiment to study the effect of methanol spraying on coffee and cocoa seedlings had been conducted at the greenhouse of Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute, Jember, (East Java). The concentration studied were 0, 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9 percent; whereas the spraying intervals were 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks. The result showed that the effect of methanol spraying on stimulation of coffee and cocoa growth was quadratical. Optimum concentration of methanol sprayed was 0.68 percent for coffee and 0.63 percent for cocoa. There was no different effect of intervals spraying of 1 week and 4 weeks.
