Plantlet regeneration from Coffee arabica shoot tips

In vitro shoot tip culture was started with the goal of using it to propagate Coffea arabica L Cv Ruiru 11. Tips excised from CBD and leaf rust resistant cultivar Ruiru 11 were cultured in a Murashige and Skoog (MS) 1962 medium containing various levels of Benzyl aminopurine (BA) and Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). The tips developed into a highly branched shoot system with callus being formed at the ends in all the treatments. Rooting was achieved by culturing the regenerated shoots in half strength MS Medium Supplemented with vitamins and 200 mg/NAA.
