Ocorrencia de fungos micorrízicos vesículo-arbusculares em cafeeiros das regioes do Alto Paranaíba e Triangulo no Estado de Minas Gerais
Ocurrence of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on coffee trees in the regions of Alto Paranaíba and Triangulo Mineiro in the State of Minas Gerais. The natural occurrence of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhyzal fungi (VAMF) on coffee trees in the regions of Alto Paranaíba and the Triangulo Mineiro in the State of Minas Gerais, and the possible relationship with soil fertility features were examined. Eighty-seven compound samples of rhizosphere soil collected in April 1986 were studied. The spores of VAMF were extracted from soil for the identification of species and the roots used in the estimation of mycorrhizal infection rate. Sub-samples were used for measurements of pH and of Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn, P and K content. The presence of mycorrhizal colonization in coffee trees was confirmed in all samples. Of these, 79.3 per cent exhibited fewer than 50 per cent of mycorrhizal root segments. Thirty-three fungal species of the genera Acaulospora, Entrophospora, Gigaspora, Scutellospora, Glomus and Sclerocystis were found. The genus Acaulospora predominated in the samples, followed by Entrophospora, Glomus, Gigaspora, Sclerocystis and Scutellospora, occurring in 98, 55, 46, 14, 14 and 9 per cent of the samples, respectively. The genera Glomus and Acaulospora exhibited greater species diversity and, in general, especies of Acaulospora exhibited greater spore densities than those of Glomus. The species Gigaspora margarita and Glomus clarum, considered to be effective for coffee trees, occurred in fewer than 10 per cent of the samples
