Resistencia do cafeeiro a nematóides, 3: Avaliacao da resistencia de espécies de Coffea e de híbridos interespecíficos a Meloidogyne incognita raca 3

This study was to identify coffee germplasm resistant to Meloidogyne incognita race 3. Coffee selections of two species, Coffea canephora and C. congensis, and of two interespecific hybrids were evaluated. Two C. arabica cultivars, Mundo Novo and Catuai, were used as susceptible controls. Among the selections studied, Uganda col. 13 of C. congensis was the only on to show egg masses rated as less than 2, and it was considered as resistant. Progenies of Bangelan col. 1, col. 4 and col. 5, as well as C 1643-4 and LC 1669-20, were rated from 2.1 to 3.0, according to presence of egg masses, and were considered as moderately resistant. As most of the progenies studied are segregating for resistance, individual resistant plants among a selection should be used to continue the coffee plant breeding program
