Progress report for the period April 1971 to March 1972

Research on coffee is reported on pp. 11-33 as follows: Breeding and selection; assessment for resistance to coffee berry disease; vegetative propagation; forest coffee management trial; seven-year cycle management trial; smallholder management trial; spacing trial; sources of N observations; CBD spray trials; seed germination and longevity experiments; effect of stages of ripeness on coffee quality; drying trials; and a comparison of the quality of the early and late crop. Work on plant protection (pp.56-63) included surveys of coffee pests and diseases; evaluation of fungicides for the control of Ascochyta tarda; studies on biological and chemical control of Antestiopsis intricata; and an investigation on the Bonga berry abnormality
