Obtention et perspectives d'un nouvel hybride de cafeier en Cote d'Ivoire: l'Arabusta

After having recalled the aims of the programme and the obstacles which had to be over-come, the author presents the improvement scheme which has been adopted: - creation and seleccion of the tetraploid C. canephora genitors; - collection of the C. arabica genitors; - obtainment and study of the hybrids (legitimate, illegitimate, back-crossed); - control of their productivity and of their behavior towards hazards; - method for the hybrid extension. Then the author sums up the experiments carried out in order to set up agricultural and technological techniques adapted to the "Arabusta". The conclude, the interest shown by the new hybrid for the development of Ivory Coast is presented, as well as the prospects of its admission to the coffee market
