Breeding was continued with the object of evolving more efficient type of coffee combined with resistance to leaf rust (H. vastatrix) and good cup quality. The main items of work were study of morphological characters with special reference to yield components, cytogenetical studies of hybrids, screening for resistance to various cultures in the gene bank and breeding plots and field trials on various promising cultures in different zone
