[La presencia de Heterodera longicolla en plantaciones de café en San Ramón, departamento de Junín, Perú]

Soil samples collected from some coffee plantations in San Ramon, Chanchamayo Valley, Departament of Junin, Peru contained cysts of a Heterodera species new to Peru and South America. Cysts were extracted from the soil and examined for taxonomic identification. Cysts were lemon shaped and ambifenestrate. The anus was located outside of vulval lip near the vulval cone. The underbridge and bulae were absent and the vulval bridge was thin. These characteristics coincided with those given for Heterodera longicolla of the Goettingiana group. Heterodera longicolla was described from Buchloe daclyloides in Kansas, U.S.A. The occurrence of this nematode in coffee plantations of San Ramon is a new report of its presence in Peru and South America. Its direct association with coffee plants has not been established. Studies are needed to determine if this nematode is attacking the coffee plant or the grass weeds inhabiting the coffee plantations in San Ramon, Peru
