Field efficacy of a new systemic fungicide PP 523 5 percent SC (Hexaconazole) for the control of coffee leaf rust :

The efficacy of a new systemic fungicide PP 523 5 percent SC (hexaconazole) was evaluated in a field trial for the control of coffee leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix Berk & Br.) in comparison with other commonly employed fungicides like Bayleton 25 EC (triadimefon) and Bordeaux mixture. PP 523 at a concentration of 75 ppm sprayed thrice during pre-, mid- and post-monsoon periods was most effective in controlling the disease and was comparable with that of two sprays of Bayleton 25 EC at 0.02 percent a.i. The effect of two sprays of PP 523 both at 25 and 75 ppm concentrations was on par with that of 0.5 percent Bordeaux mixture
