Ocorrencia no Brasil da raca XVI de Hemileia vastatrix coletada do germoplasma de Coffea arabica no estado de Minas Gerais :
Leaves with urediniosporic lesions of Hemileia vastatrix were collected in progeny fields trials from the UFV-EPA-MIG Coffee Breeding Program, Brazil and inoculated in a colection of differential coffee plants for the physiological races of this pathogen. By using this methodology, the races I, II, XVI, XXIII and XXIV were identified. This is the first report of the occurrence of race XVI in Brazil, and races XXIII and XXIV in the State of Minas Gerais. The importance of the occurrence of race XVI in Brazil, is that it affects the totallity of the combinations of the resistance factors SH1, SH2, SH3, SH4 and SH5, because this race have virulence genes V1 V2 V3 V4 V5. The genotipic affinity between most of the identified races and the coffee progenies which originated those races, affected the resistance of those coffee progenies in field conditions
