Management practices and input usage in smallholder coffee farms in Kenya

This paper describes the various management practices and input usage levels by the smallholder coffee farmers based on the data collected in 1986/87 field survey. The variation in canopy management across the various agroecological zones are shown, input usage levels of fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides are compared in all the agroecological zones and the proportion of farmers combining fertilizers and manures straight fertilizers and compounds and the relative application rounds and rates. Yields across the various agroecological zones are compared and potential for improvement elaborated
