Scale insects and mealybugs on coffee, tea and cardamom and their natural enemies
Many species of scale insects and mealybugs are of economic importance. Those recorded in India on coffee, tea and cardamom are discussed with reference to their status and natural enemies. Although a large number of coccoids are recorded on coffee and tea, only a small number of coccoids are recorded on coffee and tea, only a small number are of economic importance. However there is a need to assess the extent of natural control by parasites and predators to converse them and prevent pest outbreaks and also to restore the balance by augmentation whenever necessary. Some approaches to biological control of the pest species are also discussed
