In a field trial in 1973-82 at Analandia, weeds in a coffee plantation on a latosol were controlled using a) a disc harrow, b) a rotary cultivator, c) an offset rotary shredder, d) herbicide or e) hand hoeing. The mean diam. of the soil aggregates over 9 years was a) 0.30, b) 0.36, c) 0.47, d) 0.31 and e) 0.38 ¿m, c) being significantly the highest. Data are given on the size distribution of the aggregates. (Hort. Abst. 57(7):6072. 1987)
