A berry infection technique for assessment of the CBD strain of Colletotrichum coffeanum on coffee Branchlets
Several strains of Colletotrichum coffeanum colonize the bark of coffe shoots buy only one, the coffee berry disease (CBD) strain (Gibbs, 1969), is capable of infecting green coffee berries. This unique property may be used to assess the abundance of spores of this strain since the relationship between log spore dose and probit percentage infection is linear. When due attention is paid to choice of cultivar, age of test berries and incubation temperature the method is highly sensitive
