Use of gelatin tubes for self-pollinations in Coffea arabica L.
Basal tubes of gelatin capsules were used to cover each flower bud of Coffea arabica L. at candle stage. The tubes allowed pollination within the same flower only (self-pollination). Percentage fruit set under open-pollination, selfing by gelatin tubes and selfing by bagging were compared. Selfing by gelating tubes gave high fruit set comparable to that under natural pollination
