Economics of fertilizer use in the production of coffee, 1: Nitrogen fertilizers

The economics of fertilzer use in coffee with specific reference to nitrogen feritilizers is examined. The analysis shows there is a clear relationship between the amount of fertilizer used, the size of incremental yield and the receivable farmer profits. The paper presents a management approach in the use of fertilzer whereby a farmer would adjust the input levels in relation to the changes in prices and costs.
