The effect of a foliar fertilizer, when mixed with coffee berry disease fungicides on coffee yields in northern Tanzania

Many estate owners have increasingly been applying foliar fertilizers in addition to soil fertilizers. Yields per unit area in estates are much higher than among small holding farms. A trial was set up to investigate if by the application of foliar feeds yields could substantially be raised above the normal average. One of the common foliar fertilizers in Tanzania, Bayfolan, was mixed with recommended CBD fungicides and compared to the fungicides sprayed alone and then to the unsprayed control. Coffee Berry Disease was controlled adequately. Crop increase was achieved when a fungicide was mixed with the foliar feed as against a fungicide sprayed alone. It is therefore advisable for the coffee growers to supplement soil fertilization with foliar feeds
