Studies on resistance to black pod disease (Phytophothora palmivora Butler (Butler)) at CATIE

Research studies on cocoa diseases have been conducted in CATIE, Turrialba, Costa Rica for more than 35 years. These investigations have been oriented to the selection of resistant genotypes for which several inoculation methodologies have been studied. The following is a summary of some results obtained on black pod disease, in the period 1988-1996.
