Estudo da economicidade do controle da podridao parda do cacaueiro com fungicida cúprico aplicado por helicóptero

This paper analysis the economic viability of aerial spraying in controlling of black pod rot disease in cocoa plantations. Also, this system of control is compared with the traditional method, namely, ground spraying. The experiment was conducted in private farms in seven municipalities of cocoa-region of Bahia. The dosages of the fungicide copper sandoz (cuprous oxide) and the methods of spraying utilized in the experiment were: a) 6.4 kg of copper sandoz, per hectare mixed in 20 litres of water and sprayed with helicopter; b) 12.8 kg of copper sandoz per hectare mixed in 40 litres & sprayer with helicopter; and c) 6.4 kg of copper sandoz per hectare mixed in 12 litres of water & sprayed with the centrifugal pump. The results obtained in this experiment, show that aerial spraying was not sufficiently advantageous interms of costs, except the major contrast with respect to the areas covered per unit of time by helicopter. For this reason, adoption of aerial spraying is suggested if it give rise to higher or equal technical efficiency in comparison with traditional method of spraying.
