Controle químico de Selenothrips rubrocinctus (Giard) praga do cacaueiro na regiao de Altamira, Pará, Brasil

The insecticides arprocarb (Unden) - 160 g a.i./ha, BHC (BHC) - 240 g a.i./ha, fenitrothion (Folithion) - 240 g a.i./ha, endosulfan (Malix) - 480 g a.i./ha Carvaryl (Carvin) - 1,200 a.i./ha and trichlorfon (Dipterex) - 400 g a.i./ha were tested on the nymphal population of the cacao thrips, Selenothrips rubrocinctus, in the region of Altamira, state of Para, Brazil. Evaluation of the insecticides was based on the percentage of live nymphs after 1, 7, 14 and 21 days after application of the products. All the insecticides tested, with the exception of fenitrothion and trichlorfon, showed an efficiency of more than 90 percent for the period of 14 days. Carbaryl, endosulfan and BHC had a residual effect even after 21 days of application.
