Ocorrencia de Halisidota sp. (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) e seus parasitóides em cacauais do Sul da Bahia e avaliacao de inseticidas para o seu controle
Outbreaks of infection by Halisidota sp., on cacao trees are recorded for the first time. Field trials were carried out to evaluate the efficacy of Sevimol 3 (300 g carbaryl/litre) and Dipterex 50 E (50 percent trichlorfon) applied at a volume of 80 l/ha of the spray mixture with the addition of the sticker spreader Ag-Bem. Th efficacy was evaluated 24 hours after treatment application by spraying with 12 percent BHC for knockdown of surviving insects. The efficacy of carbaryl at 360 and 540 g of a.i./ha and of trichlorfon at the dosages of 250, 500 and 750 ml of a.i./ha were respectively 81.9 and 80.7 percent for the former and 85.7, 90.7 and 91.3 percent for the latter. Provisionally, trichlorfon can be recommended for application at the rate of 500 ml of a.i./ha. However, little is known of the toxicity of this insecticide to the parasitoids found in experimental area such as the tacknids Lespesia affinis and Leschenaultia leucophrys.
