Avaliacao economica das atividades desenvolvidas pela Comissao Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira no período de 1957 a 1980

The evolution of the activities performed by CEPLAC was analysed by evaluation of the yield performance of the cocoa husbandry in the state of Bahia - which accounts for 95 per cent of the national cocoa output - before and after the introduction of better farming techniques. The benefits earned by society through using the stock of technology produced by research and transferred to farmers by the integrated agency of extension and teaching activities were assessed using the Grilliches-Peterson formula. The estimated rates of internal return were 42 and 57 por cent, the former obtained when the global expenses of CEPLAC were counted, and the latter when just the amount allocated for supporting the research, extension, and agricultural education activities in the Cocoa Region of Bahia were taken into account.
