Problemas entomológicos da cacauicultura no Espiritu Santo

An insect survey was made in cacao fields of the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil, during October 1966 and February 1967, with the purpose of obtaining data to be used in solving problems of economic entomology. The most important pests identified were the cacao thrips Selenothrips rubrocinctus Giard., the weevils Lordops sp., Lasiopus cilipes Sahlb., Naupactus sp., the Chrysomelidae Colaspis ornata Germ., Nodonota sp. and the moths Peosina mexicana Guen. and Sylepta prorogata Hmps. in their larval state. Other insects were found, but they are at present regarded as of secondary importance. New species of weevils inknown in Bahia and harmful to cacao trees were also recorded.
