Effectiveness of fluorescent lamps and synthetic sex pheromone on suction-trap catches of Ephestia cautella

An experiment was carried out with the purpose to evaluate the effectiveness of suction-traps fitted with fluorescent lamps and/or baited with sex pheromone to detect or monitor E. cautella populations in cacao warehouses. The results showed that the pheromone significantly increased the number of moths caught in the traps. It was also shown that suction-traps baited with pheromone are more efficient than suction-traps fitted with F15T8/BL(UV) or F15T8/BL (UV) or F15T8/G (green) fluorescent lamps
