Nematodes of the cocoa region of Bahia, Brazil, 3: Plant parasitic and free-living nematodes in the rhizospheres of six different plant species

Ten genera and 19 species of plant parasitic and 46 genera and 74 species of free-living nematodes were found in 13 samples collected from the rhizospheres of six different plant species: Theobroma grandiflora, T. bicolor, Erythrina glauca, Momordica charantia and Psidium guajava. The most common plant parasitic species encountred in the samples was Helicotylenchus dihystera. The nematodes Rotylenchulus reniformis, Xiphinema sp., X. vulgare, Dolichodorus sp., and Macroposthonia onoensis were found in 30-50 per cent of the samples
