Controle químico dos insetos filófagos do cacaueiro na Bahía e Espírito Santo

Insecticide trials were carried out to re-evaluate their efficiency in the control of various cocoa leaf-feeding insects, chiefly the Chrysomelids - Maecolaspis ornata and Colaspis sulcata, and the Curculionids beetles Lordops aurosa, Naupactus bondari, in a number of localities in the cocoa producing regions of Bahia and Espirito Santo. The results showed that Lindane 0.2 per cent (emulsion), Gusathion 1.5 per cent, Methyl Parathion 2 per cent, and BHC 1.5 per cent, gave excellent control but with no significant differences between them, for Bahia, though BHC 1.5 per cent was significantly better in Espirito Santo. In a third trial, also carried out in Bahia, in which BHC (1.0 per cent, 1.5 per cent and 2 per cent), Lindane (0.2 per cent and 0.4 per cent) and Methyl Parathion 1.5 per cent were tested for the control of Chrysomelids, which included C. sulcata, no statistical differences were found between the treatments. However, for M. ornata there was a significant difference between Lindane 0.2 per cent and BHC 2.0 per cent, the former giving 100 per cent control
