Nematodes of the cacao region of the state of Espirito Santo, Brazil, 2: Nematodes associated with field crops and forest trees

A survey was undertaken to investigate the plant parasitic nematodes associated with field crops and forest trees in the Cacao Region of the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil. A total of 22 genera with 32 species of plant parasitic nematodes were found in 66 samples collected from the rhizospheres of 41 plant species. The most common genera found were Helicotylenchus, Meloidogyne, Tylenchus, Pratylenchus, Aphelenchus and Rotylenchulus, occurring in 15 to 61.5 per cent of all the samples. Certain general such as Basiria, Discocriconemella, Dolichodorus, Hemicycliophora, Paratylenchus, Radopholus, Rotylenchus and Tylenchulus appeared to be uncommon in this region, each only occurring once in a sample.
