A method of rearing the mealybug Planococcoides njalensis on cocoa seedlings
A method of rearing the mealybug P. njalensis on cocoa seedlings without the presence of its obligatory attendant ant is described. The method prevents the honeydew secreted by the mealybugs from sticking onto their bodies and thus eliminates the source of fungal attack which leads to the extinction of the mealybug colony. The method also prevents the young mealybugs from wandering
