Cytokinin-like substances and cherelle wilt in cacao (Theobroma cacao L.)

The levels of cytokinin-like substances in developing healthy and wilting cacao pods and their relation to cherelle wilt were studied. The wilting pods contained less cytokinin-like substances than healthy pods except in the tenth week from fruit set. During the will susceptible stage of pod growth in healthy as well as wilting pods showed lower level of cytokinin-like substance. Cytokinin-like substances was maximum (12.44 ug/g) during thirteenth week from fruit set. Thereafter, it declined slowly and no cytokinin-like substances could be detected in cacao pods from twenty weeks after fruit set
