Nematodes of the cocoa region of Bahia, Brazil, 2: Occurrence and distribution of plant parasitic nematodes associated with cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.)

Seventeen genera and 25 species of plant parasitic nematodes were encountered in 118 samples came from 24 different localities of the Bahian Cocoa Region. Twenty seven of the samples were taken from healthy cocoa trees; 62 were taken from cocoa trees with symptoms of dieback and 29 showed symptoms of "Morte Súbita". The nematodes encountered in this survey were: Aphelenchus avenae, Criconemoides onoensis, Dolichodorus sp., Helicotylenchus sp., H. californicus, H. dihystera, H. exallus, H. erythrinae, Hemicriconemoides sp. Hemicycliophora sp., Heterodera sp., Longidorus sp., Meloidogyne incognita, Paratylenchus sp., Peltamigratus sp., Pratylenchus brachyurus, Rotylenchulus reniformis, Trichodorus sp., T. monohystera, Trophurus sp., Tylenchus sp., T. davainei, Xiphinema sp., X. ensiculiferum and X. setariae
