Influencia da origem do polen na producao do cacaueiro

Controlled crosses using hand pollinations, between four introduced clones and a local cultivar Catongo, were compared to determine the influence of the origin of the pollen on the degree of fertilization and final yield. The results showed that the crosses Catongo x IMC-67 had a significantly superior percentage of successful pollinations than the other crosses. Although Catongo x UF-677 was better than Catongo x UF-613 and Catongo x ICS-6, there was no significant difference between them. The total number of fruits for Catongo x IMC-67 was also statistically superior to the others, but there was no difference for the number of mature pods between Catongo x IMC-67, Catongo x UF677 and Catongo x UF-613 since there was a high degree of cherelle wilt for the first two crosses
