Aptidao agrícola dos solos da regiao cacaueira da Bahia

For the practical interpretation of soil survey maps it is also necessary to prepare maps indicating land use potential, an important parameter required for any regional development plan. Land use potential was calculated by considering the negative factors which limit agricultural production: deficiencies in soil fertility, water or oxygen; liability to erosion and presence of rocks or accentuated relief which limit the degree of mechanization possible. There were then related for both annual an perennial crops with two imposed management systems - the traditional and hypothetical futuristic one where modern farm technology is employed. This modified system of land classification was applied to the soils of the Bahian Cocoa Region. The results provide a basis for better future recommendations on the land use and management systems for the region
